Karl W. Studer serves as President of Electric Power at Quanta Services, Inc., one of North America's largest infrastructure contracting companies. In this executive role, Studer oversees all of Quanta's electrical power operations across the United States, Canada, and Australia, leading a division that encompasses electric power transmission and distribution construction, substation engineering, renewable energy infrastructure development, and emergency power restoration services.

Studer's journey to executive leadership began in the field as a journeyman lineman. He graduated from Northwest Lineman College in Meridian, Idaho, where his natural leadership abilities quickly became evident. Upon completing his training, he was entrusted with supervising crew safety, work efficiency, and client satisfaction on job sites, practical experiences that would later inform his management philosophy and commitment to worker safety.

In 2007, Studer Co-Founded Probst Electric, Inc. as Vice President, where he became instrumental in the company's transformation and growth. He helped expand the Utah-based company's services from commercial electrical work into high-voltage power transmission projects. His leadership drove rapid expansion across multiple western states, including a major wind-farm transmission project in Wyoming. During this period, Studer also co-founded Summit Line Construction, Inc., a specialty contractor focused on electrical infrastructure construction. Both companies became recognized for their ability to execute complex utility projects while maintaining exceptional safety standards.

The success of these ventures attracted the attention of Quanta Services, which acquired both Probst Electric and Summit Line Construction in 2013. Following the acquisition, Studer transitioned to corporate leadership as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Probst Group, which comprised these Quanta-owned operating companies. In this capacity, he oversaw thousands of field and line workers and implemented what became known as some of the most advanced safety measures in the industry.

In 2018, Studer's proven track record earned him promotion to Regional Vice President of Quanta Services, where he managed multiple operating units and major projects across North America. His responsibilities spanned a range of complex assignments, from high-voltage transmission line installations to distribution network upgrades, further solidifying his reputation as an effective operations leader capable of handling large-scale, multi-state programs.

Since being named President of Electric Power in 2022, Studer has guided the division through a period of significant growth driven by grid modernization initiatives and renewable energy expansion. His leadership has directly and positively impacted Quanta's strategic growth in all areas of electrical engineering and construction. He has championed innovation on the job, with teams under his leadership developing new tools and methods to improve efficiency and safety in power line construction.

Studer's management philosophy centers on people and safety. Having come from a lineman background himself, he has fostered a culture that prioritizes worker safety and training, earning recognition for Quanta's strong safety record in a high-risk industry. He is known for his belief that "if you take care of the employees, everything else will take care of itself," an approach that has helped Quanta maintain a robust workforce during a time of skilled labor shortages.

Despite his executive responsibilities, Studer remains deeply connected to his roots. He resides in his hometown of Rupert, Idaho, with his wife and five children, where he continues to work as an active farmer and cattle rancher, maintaining the values of hard work and authenticity that have defined his career.
